Mr. Charles Lynn Fortner, age 67

Of Waverly, TN passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 20, 1959, in Waverly, TN to Robert and Edna Fortner.

Charles dedicated many years of his life to serving others through his work with the Ironworkers Union before transitioning to a fulfilling career with the City of Waverly Water and Sewer Department, from which he later retired.

His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family. He took great pride in loving his children and cherishing time spent with his grandchildren, often finding joy in babysitting them. These moments were some of his proudest accomplishments, reflecting the warmth and care he extended to his loved ones.

In addition to his professional life, Charles was also an avid fisherman, often embarking on adventures that brought him closer to nature. His passion for fishing was a reflection of his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.

Charles will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. His presence will be felt in the hearts of his family and friends, as they carry forward the love and laughter that he imparted throughout his life.

Mr. Fortner’s wishes were to be cremated.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:00pm Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Richlawn Cemetery. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

Burial of cremains will follow.
