Mr. Charles Billy Lane, age 94
Of McEwen, TN passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 6, 1931, in Waverly, TN to Brady and Emma Jane Lane.
An avid baseball player in his youth, Billy earned the affectionate nickname "Rabbit" due to his remarkable speed on the field. His passion for the sport was evident when he tried out for the Cardinals, showcasing a talent that many admired. Although life took him on a different path, leading him to Ohio for work rather than a baseball career, his love for the game remained a defining part of his character.
Billy worked diligently for State Stove in Ashland City, dedicating 33 years to the company before retiring. Retirement was not the end of his contributions, as he continued to serve the community by working with the Humphreys County Convenience Centers for over 20 years.
Beyond his professional life, Billy nurtured a profound spiritual side. He loved attending church and was a member at Open Bible Assembly in McEwen, where he found fellowship and solace. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him with grace and humility.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm Thursday, April 9th at Lighthouse Ministries in McEwen and from 11:00am until service time Friday, April 10th at Open Bible Assembly in McEwen.
Funeral Services for Mr. Lane will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday, April 10, 2026, at Open Bible Assembly with Bro. Kent Curtis officiating.
Interment will follow in Harris-Little Cemetery in Waverly.
