Mrs. Emily Billie Dove Chambers, affectionately known as Baboo, age 95

Of McEwen, formerly of Humboldt, TN, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at her home. She was born on December 11, 1929, in Jackson, TN to Walter and Blanche Johnson.

A longstanding member of the Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Winchester, TN, Emily found great fulfillment in her spiritual journey. She embraced her role as a teacher with unwavering passion, imparting knowledge and wisdom to countless young minds through Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and church camp. Emily's commitment to nurturing the next generation not only reflects her deep practical faith but also highlights her remarkable character—one that radiated kindness, warmth, and a genuine love for others.

Throughout her life, Emily was a dedicated leader and mentor. She proudly served as a Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts leader, instilling values of teamwork and resilience in countless young hearts. Her passion for guiding future generations extended into her role as a member of the Band Boosters for Humboldt High School, where she fostered a love for music and creativity among students. Emily was proud to be an honorary member of the Gamma Omicron Chapter of the International Teacher Society, an acknowledgment of her commitment to fostering education and inspiring future generations.

Emily was a proud member of the Eastern Star, an organization that reflects her values of charity, love, and truth. She embraced her role within this community, actively participating in numerous events alongside her late husband. Together, they traveled to various Masonic and Eastern Star gatherings, where they formed lasting friendships and cherished memories that enriched their lives.

For over two decades, Emily dedicated herself to a unique ministry of sending cards for every occasion imaginable, bringing joy and comfort to friends and strangers alike. Her thoughtful gestures transcended mere words; they were expressions of her deep compassion for others. Each month, she carefully crafted and mailed cards, ensuring that those who received them felt remembered and cherished. Emily also volunteered with Caris Hospice, where she extended her passion for uplifting spirits to patients in need. For 20 years, she brought warmth and encouragement to those facing their most challenging moments, ensuring that even in trials, they experienced the grace of heartfelt communication.

Emily's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with acts of service and generosity. Her legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her spirit of giving, and her dedication to the well-being of others. Emily will be deeply missed.

Emily's family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team at Caris Hospice in Dickson, TN, whose care and support allowed her to maintain her dignity and comfort during her final days. Their commitment to her well-being is deeply appreciated and will not be forgotten.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00pm Thursday, December 11th and from 9:00am until service time Friday, December 12th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Chambers will be conducted at 11:00am Friday, December 12, 2025, in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lee Chambers, Bro. Ronnie Longmire, and Bro. Mike Awalt officiating.

Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, TN at 2:30pm with Bro. Buck Grantham officiating.
