Mr. James David Cagle, age 76
Of New Johnsonville, TN passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born April 30, 1949, to James and Alice Cagle in Waverly, TN.
David devoted 45 years of his professional life to DuPont, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. His colleagues admired him for his expertise and leadership, and his commitment to excellence set a strong example for those around him. Retiring in 2013, he left behind a legacy of diligence and integrity within the company. In addition to his professional achievements, David proudly served in the Army National Guard for 12 years. His military service instilled in him a sense of discipline and resilience that he carried into all aspects of his life.
David was a devoted member of Trace Creek Baptist Church, where he supported his community with kindness and generosity. In addition to his spiritual commitments, David was a respected Mason of the Caldwell Lodge in New Johnsonville. His involvement in the Masonic community reflected his values of service and brotherhood, highlighting his dedication to fostering fellowship and support among his peers.
One of David's proudest accomplishments was his two-term service as Mayor of New Johnsonville from 2016 to 2024. During his tenure, he worked tirelessly to enhance the quality of life for all residents, focusing on growth, safety, and the well-being of the community. David also devoted countless hours to volunteer efforts as the Assistant Chief for the District 7 Poplar Grove Fire Department. His bravery and commitment to public safety showcased his selflessness and determination to protect and serve the community he loved.
David’s legacy is etched in the hearts of those he served and the community he cherished. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his compassionate spirit, and his remarkable contributions to making New Johnsonville a better place for all. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until service time Friday, October 24th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mr. Cagle will be conducted at 2:00pm Friday, October 24, 2025, in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mickey Miller officiating.
Interment will follow in Richlawn Cemetery.
