Mrs. Mary Rose Tinnell Elliott, age 77

Of Waverly, TN passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. She was born on February 2, 1949, in Hurricane Mills, TN to Joseph and Mary Ellen Tinnell.

Mary Rose had a passion for sports, which was a constant source of joy throughout her life. She loved watching all sports, with a special enthusiasm for Vanderbilt and Alabama teams. Yet, her greatest joy came from watching her children and grandchildren play sports, proudly supporting them from the sidelines and celebrating their achievements with heartfelt pride.

Her hobbies reflected a rich and nurturing spirit. She found delight in sewing, crafting pieces with care and skill. Her love of reading opened doors to endless worlds, while cooking and baking were not only acts of nourishment but expressions of love that brought family and friends together. In the modern age, Mary Rose embraced new forms of entertainment, enjoying TikTok videos and engaging in games like Candy Crush. She also had a keen interest in True Crime shows, appreciating the intriguing complexity of real-life stories.

Mary Rose's life was one marked by her dedication to family, and her rich, varied interests. Though she has left this world, the memories she created and the love she shared remain vibrant in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm Sunday, May 10th and from 10:00am until service time Monday, May 11th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Elliott will be conducted at 1:00pm Monday, May 11, 2026, in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Hunter Elliott officiating.

Interment will follow in Young Cemetery in McEwen.
