Mr. Rex Forrest Albrecht, age 67, of Waverly, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Born September 20, 1957, in Austin, TX, he was the son of Frank Albrecht, Jr. and Elizabeth Anne Perry Albrecht.
Having graduated from Lanier High School in 1975, Rex soon began a career in communications working for Austin National Bank. In 1993, he opened his own business, Capital Communications, and worked across the country for many large corporations. He could often be found in the middle of the night pulling cable or installing electronic monitoring devices. He happily retired at 65 and recently moved to Tennessee with his family.
Rex was an amazing man, gifted in many ways. He was an amazing automotive mechanic for friends and family. There wasn't a challenge he wouldn't take on. He built his own home and was always helping friends with any job they were undertaking. Anyone in need knew they could count on Rex to lend a hand. He was the true meaning of a craftsman.
Baseball coaching was a huge love of his having coached his son's teams for many years. Now that his grandchildren are playing, he was always in the stands and helping them any way he could. Rex spent many years in auto racing as well. He raced for several years in a circle track car and later became a member of several Top Alcohol dragster teams. He loved hunting, fishing, watching old westerns, and had a lifelong love of nature that he shared with his son.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Chuck Zinsmeyer.
He is survived by his son Cody Albrecht, daughter-in-law Marah and their children Tucker and Tatum. Being with his grandchildren was the greatest love of his life. He is also survived by his brother Daniel Albrecht of Pflugerville, sister Tara "Missy" Zinsmeyer of San Antonio, former wife Janice Miller, dear friend Brenda Henson as well as beloved nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 26 from 5pm to 7pm and a memorial service on Saturday, September 27th, 11am at Heritage Funeral Home in Lampasas, Tx. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
