Rita Gale Oliphant

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Rita Gale Kennerly Oliphant, age 71, of McEwen, TN who passed away Friday, July 24, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born on February 16, 1955, in Waverly, TN to Charlie and Elese Kennerly.

Rita was a lifelong resident of McEwen, Tennessee, and a proud 1973 graduate of McEwen High School. She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church in McEwen and was known for her warm heart and love of spending time with family and friends. Rita especially enjoyed cruising, playing cards, dining out, and making lasting memories with her beloved "Yah" Girls.

A licensed funeral director and insurance agent, Rita dedicated her life to serving others during their times of greatest need. She faithfully served families through her work at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home for 30 years before continuing her ministry of compassion at Humphreys County Funeral Home for an additional three and a half years. She considered it a privilege to care for the families she served, and her kindness, professionalism, and genuine compassion left a lasting impression on countless lives.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00pm Sunday, July 26th and from 12:00pm until service time Monday, July 27th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Rita will be conducted at 2:00pm Monday, July 27, 2026, from the Chapel of Humphreys County Funeral Home with her cousin, Russell Gill officiating.

Interment will follow in Richlawn Cemetery.
