Sheryl Renee Horton

Mrs. Sheryl Renee Horton, a devoted wife of 41 years, a loving mother of 3 beautiful daughters, grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 12, who was affectionately called “Ma”, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at her home in Waverly, TN. Sheryl was born on January 24, 1957, in French Camp, CA and raised in Santa Clara, CA.

In 1977, Sheryl moved to Waverly with her 2 small children and her mother, who was born and raised in Waverly. Sheryl met and married her second husband and had another daughter. They always say that third times the charm.

Sheryl later met and married her third husband, John, and was married for 41 years. She worked for the Tennessean as a delivery driver for 30 years and worked her way up to assistant manager at the Sub Station in Waverly. Sheryl also delivered the USA Today for many years and delivered the Dickson Shopper for 30 years. But her favorite job was being a Behavioral Technician for Mirror Lake Recovery and helping those with addiction.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Benjamin Gobell; mother, Margaret Sue Bowman Nolen; and daughters, Heather Nicole Jones and Melissa Dawn Stafford.

Sheryl is survived by her husband, John Horton of Waverly, TN; daughter, Shannon Marie Rowe (Ricky) of College Grove, TN; 3 brothers, Randy Steven Gobell, Gregory Dale Gobell, and Keith Anthony Gobell, all of Antioch, TN; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am until service time Saturday, January 31st at Humphreys County Funeral Home.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Horton will be conducted at 1:00pm Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the Humphreys County Funeral Chapel with Mike Brogdon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help with funeral expenses.
