Mrs. Virginia Ann Watkins Murrell, age 91
Of McEwen, TN passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at her home. She was born December 28, 1933, in McEwen, TN to Andrew and Audrey Watkins.
Throughout her years as a devoted mother, Virginia made significant contributions to her local schools, notably serving as President of the Band Boosters for nine years during her children’s formative years. Her leadership and unwavering support for the arts left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Virginia was not only an advocate for the arts in her community, but she also embodied artistic expression herself. A talented painter, sketch artist, and poet, she found joy and solace in creating beautiful works that resonated with those around her. Her ability to weave words together into lyrics for songs demonstrated the breadth of her artistic capacity, offering heartfelt reflections of her experiences and emotions.
Her legacy will forever be remembered through the lives she touched with her kindness, creativity, and passion. Virginia's warmth and dedication to her family and community will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 8:00pm Saturday, September 13th and from 11:00am until service time Sunday, September 14th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Murrell will be conducted at 2:00pm Sunday, September 14, 2025, in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Winston Hatcliff and Rev. Tony Curtis officiating.
Interment will follow in Fews Chapel Cemetery in McEwen, TN.
